Adhesive systems for resin-based luting agents: The promise and the problems

چکیده
cementation of alloy-based restorations with traditional cements (e.g., glass-ionomer, resin-modified glass-ionomer, zinc phosphate, zinc polycarboxylate) to bonding of all ceramic restorations with resin based cements. With the increasing demand for high-end esthetic treatments for anterior teeth restorations, the need for a good esthetic cementation system comes into play in modern day dentistry. Resin cements have become popular, primarily because they have addressed the disadvantages of solubility, lack of adhesion, compressive strength and microleakage in some classes of luting agents and their ability to bond to both the tooth structure and restoration. The adhesive luting technique consists of adhesive system application before the use of resin cement.

Effect of different bonding procedures on micro-tensile bond strength between a fiber post and resin-based luting agents.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of silanization and light-irradiation on bonding between a fiber post and different resin-based luting agents. Sixty silicium fiber posts (Easy Post) were divided into 10 groups according to the type of resin-based luting agent employed, whether the post surface was silanized, whether the adhesive was light-irradiated, and whether Calibra lut...

OBJECTIVES The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of adhesive luting on the fracture resistance of zirconia compared to that of a composite resin and a lithium disilicate glass ceramic. MATERIALS AND METHODS The specimens (dimension: 2 mm × 2 mm × 25 mm) of the composite resin, lithium disilicate glass ceramic, and yttria-stabilized tetragonal zirconia polycrystal (Y-TZP) were p...
متن کاملMicroleakage comparison of three types of adhesive systems versus GIC-based adhesive in class V composite restorations
Background and aims: New dentin bonding agents and techniques have been developed to reduce microleakage and create higher bond strength. This in-vitro study compared the microleakage of three resin-based adhesives versus a GIC-based adhesive on class V composite restorations. Materials and Methods: Class V cavities were prepared on the buccal surfaces of 72 sound premolars, randomly assigned ...
متن کاملSimulated localized wear of resin luting cements for universal adhesive systems with different curing mode.
This study evaluated the simulated localized wear of resin luting cements for universal adhesive systems using different curing modes. Five resin luting cements for universal adhesive systems were evaluated and subsequently subjected to wear challenge in a Leinfelder-Suzuki wear simulation device. Overall, 20 specimens from each resin luting cement were photo-cured for 40 s (dual-cure group), a...
متن کاملRetentive force of three fiber-reinforced resin composite posts and a zirconia post cemented with two adhesive luting agents: in vitro study.
By means of a pull-out test, this study compared the retentive force of three fiber-reinforced resin composite posts and a zirconia post. These posts were cemented using two different dual-polymerizing adhesive resin luting agents. Forty freshly extracted canines were selected for the study. All tooth root were endodontically treated and the post spaces prepared. The posts were luted using luti...
